January 16 A New YearSo nothing is worse when you think you have saved your blog and it steers you clear to another site and didn't save it :( that happened to me after 30 minutes of writing oh well so we go again.
I hope everyone had a great holiday break. Our Santa's Workshop was a huge success in part to all our terrific volunteers - we can never do anything without volunteers. When we came back from break the principal and I took the winners of the fundraiser to John's Incredible Pizza by limo and you can see a few pics on this website. These kids sold over 30 items. We had a blast!
Yearbooks are currently on sale for $15 until the end of the month. If you haven't purchased one yet you want to get one before the price goes up. Our yearbook coordinator (Janine Owen) does a fantastic job of making our kids memories into a beautiful and colorful keepsake for us all.
Please keep an eye out for a flyer to come home to "nominate your favorite teacher" writing contest - more info to come soon.
The PTA is going to have a spring fundraiser, Sees' Candy starting March 1st.
The spring book fair will start in the middle of April. We will need volunteers so let me know if you are available. This book fair does not raise money for the school. The librarian (Mrs. Greene) likes to offer this to the kids because they can purchase 1 book and get another free (BOGO). This is a great opportunity to perhaps purchase a book for your child and get another for your teachers class library.
Speaking of teachers with the district budget cuts teachers are in need of classroom supplies. The PTA does provide financial reimbursement to each teacher/class but they can use more and need more. Please contact your childs' teacher to see what supplies they may be in need of. Some examples are red pencils, glue sticks, tissue, hand sanitizer, crayons, paper, etc.
Remember Monday is a holiday - no school.
Please feel free to email me anytime at christicleveland@surewest.net
Have a good week.

PTA President November 30 Happenings at CarriageWe have Thanksgiving behind us and Christmas right around the corner, my how the time does fly. The PTA has been extremely busy. We are now working on Carriage having a Santa Workshop so kids can shop for their families while at school. This will need alot of volunteers for a couple of hours during the week of December 14th. I think your time will be very rewarding and entertaining helping children budget and shop, so please email me at christicleveland@surewest.net if you can help.
Thank you for all that participated in the can food drive. You collected over 20 boxes of food. The Citrus Heights food closet located at the Advent Lutheran Church received all of it and was so thankful as they do not receive food from the KCRA kids can food drive and this is right in our back yard, so thank you.
Did you know: How wonderful our teachers and staff are? Because we are a performing arts school both teachers and staff take time before school, after school and evenings to put on performances so that our friends and family can see our children perform. Most schools do not have this luxury. But what I want to point out is that they don’t have to. I had the opportunity last night to see a very different take on a performance. It was not for my childs class it was for an upper level grade but I did take my six year old. I have to say that was the best 45 minutes and $1.00 I could have spent. Where else can you get almost 1 hour of entertainment for $1.00 live? Please attend as many performances as you can to show your support for your school. I personally want to thank all the teachers and staff for going above and beyond for all that they do. Please remember to show your appreciation to your childs teacher they know its their job but would love to hear Thanks once in awhile. Are you doing any shopping online? If so please so through the BOX TOP Website see the link. Assign Carriage as your home school and the school will make money on all your purchases – HOW EASY IS THAT! http://www.boxtops4education.com/earn/marketplace/default.aspx
The entire PTA board would like to wish you and your family a healthy and happy holiday season.
October 11 Fall Carnival and MiscDear Carriage Families,
I love this time of year with the cooler weather, the smell of candles burning, pumpkin bread cooking and leaves falling.
Well we are now entering the middle of October and Fall is upon us. The kindergartners will be going on their annual pumpkin patch trip this week - what a blast! The sixth graders will be heading to Sly Park soon, I hope they take warm clothes.
Last week we survived school pictures for the Fall but if you missed it there will be retakes, pictures are also offered in the Spring. Our book fair is coming up and you do not want to miss it. It starts Thursday, October 15th and runs until the Thursday, October 22nd. It will be open in the library 30 minutes before and after school. Also parents can shop Tuesday night, October 20th from 5-6:30pm if that is more convenient for you. Our school carnival will happen on Friday, October 30th from 5-8pm and we are all so excited. If you can help in anyway please let us know or drop a message at the office.
Please watch for the school fundraiser that will be coming your way on November 2nd. Fundraisers help the school in so many ways, so please do your part and help fundraise.
Have a great October and a safe Halloween!
Regards,
Christi Cleveland

As Monday draws near and so many of us are thrilled to have school starting, please remember to help your teachers by getting your kids to bed early, make them eat a healthy and hearty breakfast to start each day and help them with their homework. Form a partnership with your childs teacher as you both have the same goal, for your child to learn.
Have a great first week back at school.
